1 - What is the major mission of BioImagene?

Our mission is to Enable Digital Pathology, by being the leading Provider of Image Informatics Solutions for Life Science Industry. Our solutions are a means to achieve this goal.

2 - This sector seems to have lots of technology aimed at the same problem, is that a fair assessment?

Yes, you are right to say that a lot of people are attempting to address the same problem but they have point solutions. Image Informatics can be a real bottleneck for this industry. But we are in a better position to address Image informatics, by virtue of being pioneers in this arena and having an end to end solution

3 - What is the primary reason(s) you think BioImagene has the right combination for success?

BioImagene has the 3 T's for a successful start up - Technology, Team & Traction. We possess the perfect blend of domain and technical knowledge. We have a strong team of scientists, researchers as well as a highly skilled technical workforce.
We have the Customer traction with 12 of the top 20 thought leading Pharma & Biotech companies adopting our solutions.

4 - Your business model seems to be a hybrid...can you explain that decision in a bit more?

To state it simply, we are starting in Research (Discovery) & morphing into Diagnostics. We adopted this model as it shortens the path to revenue & leverages the experience in Discovery, to strengthen our offerings in Diagnostics. It is the new generation of business model that mitigates risks & ensures success.

5 - How critical was the merger with Scimagix in paving the path towards the end-vision of BioImagene?

The merger with Scimagix opened a lot of doors for us. Scimagix gave us the depth in technology -Image management to Image Analysis. Harnessing that depth, we offer solutions from Discovery to Diagnostics - Gel to Cell to Tissue to Medical Imaging. BioImagene's expertise in image analysis is coupled with Scimagix's expertise in image management and data mining technology.

6 - Tell us about your experience in setting up a successful offshore (Indian) life sciences development team?

It was an interesting experience of merging 2 cultures while we set up an offshore team in India, We have brought in a Silicon Valley culture of openness that fosters creativity, and merged that with highly skilled human resources and competitive cost structure available in India. That is what we are today - a product oriented company that does design in US, Development in India & Deployment in US.

7 - Are you seeing others following suit?

We have led the way in our field and demonstrated that world class products can be made in India. Certainly - others will follow our lead.

8 - As industries mature they go from selling technology and features to selling solutions to selling service and guarantees...where do you think life sciences is in that continuum?

Unlike the other industries, the life sciences industry is in its early state of technology adoption & needs custom solutions. There is no simple shrink wrapped product available that addresses their business problems. We address the issues by providing products, solutions & services in a cost effective manner.

9 - Where do you see the major near-term impacts that BioImagene will make to quality of life?

BioImagene is a Trusted Partner to reduce the Drug Development Cycle Time. We enable digital pathology to improve the Quality & Speed of Cancer Patient Care while reducing the cost of care.
